March 4, 2019

Hello Parents & Guardians,

Good afternoon!  I hope February break provided students, families and friends some time to catch up with one another and create some meaningful memories away from CHS.   Congratulations to senior Emily Coughlin for her Prudential Spirit of the Community Volunteerism awards.  CHS Counselors completed student meetings for course selection. This has been a highly efficient process with invaluable teacher assistance.  The process will continue as we begin to develop the master schedule. We are also happy to announce an agreement with Granite State Driving School to provide driver’s ed classes at CHS.  Please check out their website under the link for Class Schedule/Sign Up for opportunities http://granitestatedrivingschool.com/
.  Classes will be held Tues/Thurs from 2:30-4:30 at CHS starting April 19 if there is enough interest.  The CHS PTO’s generosity these past few months is evident as they replaced a student microwave, provided teachers exam supply baskets, replaced the faculty Keurig, and added water bottle filling stations for students outside the 1st and 2nd floor student bathrooms.  In terms of academics, our Curriculum Facilitators Cate Devine (Sci), Pat Keefe (Eng), Heidi Paris (SocSt), Diane Angelini (Math), and Jen Watson (For Lang) met with Mary Widman and me for a Depth of Knowledge review of 1st semester exams. Upcoming events include Winter Sports Awards on March 7, and don’t forget to vote in the March 12 town elections here at CHS.  Quarter 3 will close in one month on Friday, April 5th. Please make sure your student is in good academic standing in order to be eligible to participate in extracurricular activities. Finally, if you have time, we would love to have you here in the CHS Auditorium for a District-wide meeting with District officials, school principals, and Litchfield Police and Fire for an A.L.I.C.E Safety Protocol review on March 20th. Have a great week everyone!  Bill Lonergan, Principal
