Litchfield School District News Article

March 25, 2019

Hello Parents & Guardians,

This week the National Association of Secondary School Principals is sponsoring National Public School's Week:  We have three great schools here with GMS, LMS, and CHS.  I am thankful every day that I get to work with such great colleagues here in Litchfield!  Speaking of colleagues, we don’t always recognize the work of our Administrative Assistants but what they do on a daily basis is really important, so it is important to recognize Sarah, Terrie, Elana, Michelle, and Marissa for their hard work supporting CHS.  There are times when our teachers give up overnights to manage our students while away at conferences and student programs.  So this week, I’d like to mention Nate Cooper for bringing students to Youth & Government in Concord and to Dana Bourassa and Julie Green for taking students to an FBLA competition.   Also, Aimee Gaspar held her annual Fashion Show Fundraiser this past weekend to a large crowd and with the assistance of MC’s sophomore Travis Tuck and math teacher Dala Johnson.  Congratulations to them for a job well done.  A big thanks also to music teachers Jill Pennington and Carolyn Leite for their work with our Chorus and Band students at this past Saturday’s Music Festival in Bow!   When we recently put out the request for help for one of our sick students,  GMS and LMS went over the top for us in supporting that student and family.  Between the three schools, well over $1,000 was donated to support that family!  Kudos to Shawn McDonough (Computers)  and Lynn Gnaegy (FACS) and their StuCo assistants for a fine St. Patty’s Day meal provided to staff last Wednesday.  If you are looking for something to do Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:15, Litchfield students will perform a District Fusion Musical Concert at CHS.  Finally, mark your calendar for Friday, June 14, 2019 as the official graduation date. More details on graduation will be coming in the next weeks and months.  Have a great week everyone!  Bill Lonergan, Principal
