Welcome To The Guidance & Mental Health Services Homepage

students
At GMS, we believe that educating children means teaching and nurturing the whole child.  In order to achieve their potential, all children need to feel safe and connected to the school community, and many must overcome cognitive, social, or emotional obstacles before a meaningful educational experience can occur.  To ensure that all children have the opportunity to achieve their potential, the school guidance counselor, the school social worker and school psychologist collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and community resources to support children.

 Collaboration and Early Intervention
The school guidance and mental health service program is guided by a belief in collaboration and community involvement.  Whenever possible, community resources are utilized to enhance programming and to help children.  The counselor, social worker, and psychologist work together closely with parents and others to ensure that children receive the care and support they need to succeed in school.  We believe that early intervention at the elementary level may reduce the chances of high risk behaviors in middle and high school.
