Litchfield School District News Article

December 11, 2020

Good Evening, Parents, Guardians and CHS Community,

We are really looking forward to having students back in the building on Monday.  We hope these next eight days of classes remain in person as long as the numbers stay low.  Please remember we are operating back on the In-School schedule with 90 minute classes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday with Wednesday being an early release for students at 12:00 noon with buses departing then.  To see the schedule, here is a link:  2020-2021 School Year Schedule.  Typically these are the weeks of our holiday celebrations with the students, but we are forced to reduce those due to the pandemic.  We continue operating differently, but our co-curricular clubs and organizations are still meeting, some virtually and some live.  We are also having athletics tryouts starting this week as we continue to strive for some normalcy.  Please reinforce with your children that we are carefully following the health experts’ recommendations on wearing masks, physical distancing, and using good hygiene all the time.  Thanks for your help on that.  This is particularly important as we return back to CHS after two weeks of Remote Learning.  Finally, a number of families have reached out requesting their children stay Remote during these last eight days before break.  Please reach out to your child’s counselor for assistance with that.   Have a great week everyone!  Bill Lonergan, Principal

Updates:

Rescheduling our Power Outage:  We have been notified that the planned outage will take place over Holiday Break, so we will not be shifting our CHS schedules for this purpose.  Good news on that!

CHS Winter Concert:  The CHS Winter Choral Concert (originally scheduled for Dec 17) has been postponed to TUESDAY, DECEMBER 22!  It will begin at 7pm and will be recorded/streamed just like the October concert.  We will send more information on that as we get closer.  We are doing our best to bring you our very talented students’ performances.   Please understand, everything is VERY fluid and changes might occur!

COVID Update Regarding Masks:  We continue to be concerned with the rising COVID cases in NH and are following the Governor’s recent mandate for wearing masks in public spaces.  Even though schools had been exempted, it is now being recommended through NH DHHS for students and staff to wear masks at all times in the school buildings.  Monday, when we return to school, we do expect students and staff to follow this expectation.  The only exceptions will be while eating lunch or taking a mask break outside and keeping physically distant from one another. We appreciate your support as we keep students and staff safe.
