Litchfield School District News Article

November 20, 2020

Good Evening, Parents, Guardians and CHS Community,

By this point, I am hoping you have heard our communication regarding the switch to Remote Learning on November 30, after the Thanksgiving Break.  These are certainly challenging times in education and making quick pivots is not what we are accustomed to in schools.  So on that note, having received some good feedback from the community on our weekly update, I have decided to delete some extraneous information and do some minimizing.  Prior editions are stored on the CHS homepage, so if you need older information, you can always refer back to those.  This week we are seeing the change in temperatures, and with that increasing numbers of students and staff with the sniffles and seasonal cold symptoms.  This year, we are being extra cautious and we encourage that as you handle your child’s health concerns.  Being extra careful and health conscious is critical to keep everyone safe, so please follow DHHS guidelines and keep them home when they are not well and contact Donna in the health office to keep us informed.  Clearly our decisions this week have been guided by these challenges.  In keeping this shorter, I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving with your families and if you are not traveling or having family travel to you, please take full advantage of Zoom, Google Meets, Skype to share the day with them!  Because of the short week, we will not be posting a Weekly Update next week.  Have a great weekend everyone!   Bill Lonergan, Principal

Updates:

COVID Update Regarding Masks:  We have been taking a look at the rising COVID cases in NH, and considering the Governor’s recent mandate for mask wearing in public spaces in NH, even through schools have been exempted, we believe it is important for students and staff to wear masks at all times in the school buildings.  The only exceptions will be while they are eating lunches or taking a mask break outside and are physically distant from one another.  We appreciate your support as we try to keep everyone safe here at CHS.

Quarantined Students:  If your child has been quarantined due to testing positive for COVID 19 or for being in “close contact” outside of CHS with someone who is positive, please make sure that you communicate this with the school as soon as possible.  Sometimes there is a lag from DHHS notifying us of circumstances outside of school  The earlier we know this, the better for managing this at CHS.  In quarantine situations, it is also helpful if your child notifies teachers they are in quarantine and going to Remote Learning.  Sometimes again there is a lag in communications on these.
