Litchfield School District News Article

September 24, 2021

Sept 24, 2021

Good Evening, Parents & Guardians, Students, CHS Staff and CHS Community,

Now entering the fifth week of school, our day to day activities are becoming more routine.  It was good to have our Homecoming Week so the seniors could have a more normal start to their senior year.  We know that the decision on the Pep Rally was controversial for the students, but for us administratively, we want to have it on a day where we have good weather and can hold it safely outdoors.  Coming up in early October we have the PSAT suite of testing for 9-11th grade students.  We use these tests to do progress monitoring and to also provide students with an opportunity to have an introduction to the PSAT NMSQT which qualifies students for National Merit Scholarships, and for the SAT, which is used by man colleges and universities as one of the factors in their admissions decisions.  Our seniors on that day will be provided a series of options to do outside of school.  Provided they choose one of those options, the day will count as an excused absence for attendance purposes.  More information will be coming from Counseling regarding the testing day.  If you had a chance to attend one of the homecoming events, we hope you had a great time supporting our students.  For those who are unable to meet on the fied this evening, please feel free to join us on Wednesday morning for our first Coffee with the Administration in the CHS Learning Commons.  For those interested in joining us remotely, there is a linkin the Coming Events section.  Have a great weekend everyone!  Bill Lonergan, CHS Principal

  • Bill H did his annual kind gesture providing treats to support staff on Monday.  Much appreciated, Bill!

  • Our Annual PTO Breakfast was a great way to start this past week!   Thanks to all of our parents, guardians/and students who donated and assisted.  Our staff is so appreciative!

  • Stacie in the main office has done a quality job in her first run through the budgeting process.  Despite being short handed, she has provided key office support during the days and some additional night and weekend work to get the budget prep done.  Thanks Stacie!

  • Each year as we start school, the Litchfield Police provide us gift cards to support our needy families/students.  The smiles on student faces as we meet with them to explain this generosity is so good to see.  Thanks to the PD for this exceptional student/family support!

  • It is great that Nicole St. Jean has joined the Grading and Reporting Committee.  Your experiences at Sanborn and input here already will certainly provide us guidance moving our Grading practices forward!
