Hello Parents, Guardians & CHS Community, This past week Andrea Stern from IT, Mike Perez, Superintendent Jette, and other school and district staff joined Jodi Callinan and me as we began building the master schedule for next year.  We now look at actual student course selections and staffing levels, and then we determine which classes have enough students enrolled to run and which lack viable numbers. It is a complex puzzle, and it requires programming repeated scheduling runs to efficiently utilize teachers, resources and classrooms. As we complete this process and teachers and students get their schedules, I am confident we have maximized our resources to create the best schedule courses for our students. Have a great week everyone!  Bill Lonergan, Principal

  • Appreciation:
    • Litchfield FD responded quickly last Monday to a smoke smell coming into the building from a problem compressor on the CHS roof. The equipment was shut down and repaired. We appreciate their quick response to a building challenge.
    • Art teacher Denise Freeman spent some time at Senior Night for the boy's basketball team and sent photos along to them and their families.  Thanks for continuing to give up your time to support students and families, Denise!
    • As we enter the second semester, we begin using the gym for more large events, and unfortunately, the PE Teachers give up numerous class blocks for voting day, concerts and Challenge Day. Their patience, generosity, and collaboration are noteworthy!
    • We are thankful to faculty members Raheem Chowdhury and Nick Sica for participating in a recent PD workshop in December and then presenting at Faculty Meeting their observations and its impact on work here at CHS.
    • We received a nice letter from a parent of a former student that Counselor Bill Hicks provided great assistance to.  The student is very close to earning a BS in English, and Bill’s assistance at CHS greatly prepared this student for closing in on that goal.

  • From the Health Office - It is hard to miss the media attention being given to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).  In order to do our due diligence, we want to communicate about the best practices we are taking in the Litchfield Schools.  With all-new health information, it is important to gather as much data as possible and make informed decisions based on that information.

At present, there is no cause for concern in our schools and we will continue to run programs as scheduled.  On a daily basis, we will be checking the nh.gov website for updates on the coronavirus and will send updated information, as needed.  If you would like to follow the same guidelines, use this LINK.

At Litchfield Schools, we pride ourselves on maintaining clean facilities.  On a routine basis, we sanitize frequently touched surfaces and encourage those who are sick to stay home and rest if they are showing symptoms of any illness.  Keep in mind, frequently washing your hands for 20 seconds (sing "Happy Birthday" twice) and maintaining social distance is the best way to prevent the spread of respiratory illness.  We ask that all Litchfield community members pay attention to the following CDC guidelines and make informed decisions based on your situation.

How can I protect myself and others?
There are steps you can take to reduce your risk of getting sick from viral respiratory infections, and help prevent transmitting infections to others, including:
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (sing "Happy Birthday" twice)
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands
  • Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces (especially those cell phones!)
  • Stay home from work or school if you have a fever or are not feeling well
  • If you travel out of NH or the USA, be informed of the threat level of where you traveled and follow all recommendations of the CDC
As a tight-knit community that cares about each other, Litchfield depends on self-regulation to prevent the spread of disease.  We take care of each other by making informed decisions and following best practices.

Employment Possibilities:  We are still seeking a Boys Lacrosse coach for spring.  More and more, however, it looks like AD Knight will be serving in both the Coach and AD roles.  However, if you know of anyone with HS lacrosse experience and interested, please have them contact AD Knight at [email protected] or 546-0300 x3118.
