Welcome back to your final year of high school!
This year will fly by, so we want to make sure you are prepared. Every senior will be given an appointment to meet with their school counselor in late September through October. At this meeting, we will go over what you should be doing in the next few months. Our goal is that you will be letting us know your plans for life after CHS. We will help with any plan you have and make sure all bases are covered.
If you are going to college, this meeting will consist of finalizing your list of schools that you are interested in by using the Naviance/Family Connection program; finalizing 2 teachers you want letters of recommendation from, and finalizing your college essay. When you meet with us, make sure you have updated Naviance/Family Connection with the colleges you are applying to. We will also assist with Common Application questions. You can jump ahead by registering now for a Common Application account by logging onto www.commonapp.org.
On Wed, Oct 10th, all seniors will have an opportunity to job shadow or attend a college visit. Sign-ups will occur in mid-September during advisory. The underclassmen will be taking the PSAT practice test on this day.
Finally, parents and seniors, please jot down the date, as this event will help you with the college process. Thursday, September 27th will be our combined Senior College Overview Night & Financial Aid Information Night. This program starts at 6:30 PM and will be held in the auditorium.
Finally, sign-ups for the ACT and SAT exams are now open. Please log on to their sites (www.collegeboard.org or www.ACTstudent.org ) to register for one of these exams. We look forward to seeing you soon!
