Litchfield School District News Article

February 4, 2019

Hello Parents & Guardians,
Thanks to a financial gift from the Class of 2018 as well as budgeting support from the District, librarian Julie Green is moving forward the Learning Commons model, with more comfortable seating that can be more easily rearranged. Our PTO is coming through again at CHS.  We have a new Keurig coffee maker for the teachers and will be getting a new student microwave that will be more efficient and reliable. Again thanks to the PTO for this support.  This past Thursday, we held our first-ever Electives Fair for course selections.  Providing students a chance to speak to teachers about elective courses was time well spent.  Given the challenges of recycling nationally, we do appreciate Cory Izbicki in the SAU, the custodial staff, and teacher Dennis Perreault in trying to find solutions for the current market challenges to our paper recycling at CHS.  We are continuing our plastics, cardboard, and metal recycling, as we adjust our practices to the current market realities in paper recycling. Our CHS SADD students are planning a pre-prom “Mock Accident” as well as a guest speaker on drinking and driving in mid-May.  For our incoming 9th grade students and their parents, don’t forget our Feb 12th, 8th-grade open house.  We will be having student organizations in the hallway beforehand and our FIRST Robotics team will be having an open house from 5:30-7:30pm that evening.  Finally, this Thursday is the Challenge Day Program at CHS for about 120 students, staff, and community members.
Have a great week everyone!  Bill Lonergan, Principal.
