Litchfield School District News Article

January 2, 2022

January 2, 2022

Good Evening, Parents & Guardians, Students, CHS Staff and CHS Community,

I hope you have had a chance to spend some precious time with family & friends over the holiday break.  To me, it is an invaluable time to spend with others.  Seeing that this was my granddaughter’s first Christmas, we created some special firsts with her and our family.  I do want you all aware that we are  going to a mask requirement at all three Litchfield Schools for at least the next two weeks.  This includes CHS students, staff, and will continue with any visitors and guests.  Superintendent Jette sent that message out earlier this week.  We are taking this step under the utmost of caution in order to keep students and staff healthy as we try to avoid challenges arising out of the upswing in COVID cases.  We do look forward to being back in the building with students and staff tomorrow.  I hope you all had a great start to 2022!    Bill Lonergan, CHS Principal

From the Superintendent:

If you are looking for updated COVID statistics for CHS, LMS, or GMS, please use the following link to that information.  Data across these first three months can be found on the right side of the page: https://www.litchfieldsd.org/CoronavirusInformation.aspx.   The tabs at the bottom of the worksheet allow you to look at the data for each school for that month.

Be well, Mike Jette, Superintendent of Schools

Appreciation & Recognition from the Administration

  • CHS Senior Matt Grieco has been working with Julie Green, CHS Librarian,  to get the monitors at the school south entrance working again and publicizing CHS information.  Thanks to both of you!

  • Kudos to the CHS Student Council.  Your breakfast in the Learning Commons on the Thursday before break was a traditional warm recognition of the hard work of our staff.  The Caroling was the added “coup de grace!”  Thanks to all of you!

  • As we head into the New Year, we want every member of our CHS staff to know how much we appreciated their efforts in the first half of this year.  We have made school life as normal as possible for our students and their families, and we ought to be pleased with how well this past year has gone academically and socially for our students.  It has taken a great deal of sacrifice on our part to do this.  Please know that we are so grateful for your efforts.

  • Thanks to the PTO for their continued provisions of sustenance at every opportunity, I am thinking back to December 18 as they provided us nourishment to come back into CHS

  • Thanks to Mike Perez for working with the student body to build excitement at a recent basketball game.  Other events for other athletic competitions are going to be coming soon.  Thanks Mike.

  • Great job by the CHS Counseling staff for organizing the Alumni Panel before break.  We had a large number of alumni who did a great job discussing with CHS juniors and seniors about life after CHS.  Thanks to Val, Terrie, Carrie, and Jeff for your work contacting these former students and having them meet with current students.  Also thanks to current CHS teachers, Noah Benoit and Sabrina Noury for your contributions.
