Oct. 29, 2021

Good Evening, Parents & Guardians, Students, CHS Staff and CHS Community,

Hopefully, our fall sports tournament games will continue.  Girls’ volleyball is playing this afternoon at 4:30 at Oyster River, and boys’ soccer this afternoon at 3:00 against Mascenic here at CHS.  Please consult the athletics schedule in the following link as they hopefully continue: http://campbellcougars.org/.  Don’t forget that we have Parent Teacher Conferences coming up November 10th and 12th.  We will be sending out the link early next week to sign up to meet with your child’s teachers.  Also the YRBS is coming on November 15th.  A notice was sent out earlier this week on that process.  Finally, student eligibility for winter sports and co-curriculars will take place at the end of the first quarter-November 4.  I hope you all enjoy the weekend!  Bill Lonergan, CHS Principal

From the Superintendent:

New COVID-19 Resource - To help ensure clear and consistent communication, our three school nurses, Ms. Vail-Naylor (GMS), Ms. Chambers (LMS) and Ms. Boucher (CHS), have created a new web resource for students, families and staff.  This resource contains up to date information about preventing the spread of COVID-19 in our school community.  It also offers guidance on testing including a list of current testing centers.  This resource is linked on the district website, and the website of each school.

Reimaging Griffin Memorial School - We hope to see a great turn-out for our "Reimaging Griffin Memorial School" event on Tuesday, November 2nd at the Griffin Memorial School Gym starting at 6:30 pm. All members of the Litchfield Community are invited to discuss the future of our community’s elementary school - This will be interactive and engaging: We will share goals, listen to ideas, hear concerns, and answer questions.

Be well, Mike Jette, Superintendent of Schools

Parent Teacher Conferences:  PTC’s will be held  as follows:  Wednesday, November 10 from 3:00-5:00 pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm, and  Friday, November 12 from 8:00am-11:30am and 12;30pm-3:00pm.  These will be in-person conferences.  We will be sending out the Sign Up Genius early next week for you to choose times to meet with teachers and discuss your child’s  performance.

2021 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS):  The Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) is a national survey, conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) every two years among representative samples of 9th through 12th grade students. A separate email was sent out this week with an opt-out form if you do not want your child to participate.   Please contact counseling if you have questions on this.

News from Counseling:  *The FAFSA is open and accessible to all families of the Class of 2022. Go to www.fafsa.gov to begin the process of filing for financial aid. All families should complete the FAFSA regardless of income. For any questions, please connect with your school counselor.

College Visitations This Week:   Students should see Mrs. Taylor or a  counselor for permission to attend.  The following schools will be in guidance the week of October 25, 2021.
