The mission of the Litchfield School District Music Department is to provide as many students as possible with meaningful independent and collaborative musical experiences, which will foster a lifelong involvement in the performance, understanding, and appreciation of the discipline and art of music.
For curriculum standards in Grades 1-4, students will
- Sing and play on musical instruments a varied repertoire of music, both alone and with others
- Read and notate music
- Listen to, move to and describe music
- Improvise, compose and/or arrange music
- Evaluate music and performances
- Relate music to other disciplines, history, culture and careers
3rd and 4th grade students have the opportunity to join chorus, an ensemble that meets after school on Thursday afternoons and performs several concerts throughout the school year.
